I had a dream where I was at a music festival in my city. I was by myself, and I was trying to find people that I knew, and I was walking around in pedestrian malls and down streets that were closed off as stages were set up in bands are playing. There was a band that I couldn’t quite place but I liked them in my youth and I was furious at my ex-boyfriend and I somehow got a small candy machine open and even though small was filled with candy and I pulled out all the candy angrily until it was a tall pile on the ground. Lots of people saw me do this. The candy wrappers were bright green. I finally walked down to the waterfront and found on the stage. My best friend and her whole family was playing together and singing songs they wrote. She saw me in the audience and smiled. I had found my way back home. This was somehow posted online and there were comments. One person I knew said that everything was fine as long as I wasn’t bound to my ex by a contract or payment. She also said “dream it, be it” which is from rocky horror. When I woke up both my hands were numb with pins and needles.
Dreams often reflect our subconscious feelings, experiences, and emotions, and this one seems ripe with symbolism. Let's break it down:
Music Festival in the City: The setting of a music festival indicates a desire for joy, celebration, and community. Music often symbolizes expression, creativity, and connection. Given that it's in your city, it might represent a longing to find familiarity, comfort, or connection in your current environment.
Searching for People You Know: This can indicate feelings of isolation or a need for reconnection with important people in your life. It suggests a deeper need to find your social circle or support system.
The Band from Youth: Hearing a band you liked in your youth but cannot place could symbolize nostalgia or a wish to reconnect with a part of yourself from the past. It might reflect a yearning for simpler times or untouched dreams and passions.
Furious at Your Ex-Boyfriend: This emotion can reveal lingering feelings or unresolved issues from that past relationship. It could also indicate something (or someone) currently in your life triggering these memories or emotions.
Candy Machine Incident: Opening a candy machine and angrily pulling out candy suggests a release of pent-up frustrations or desires. Candy, being sweet, indicates searching for something satisfying or enjoyable, but your action of pulling it all out hints at overwhelming emotions. The bright green wrappers might suggest new beginnings, growth, or envy.
Finding Your Best Friend and Her Family: Seeing familiar faces performing can depict finding peace, understanding, and acceptance within your personal relationships or inner circle. Your best friend noticing you implies strong bonds and support.
Online Posting and Comments: The idea of the dream being posted online represents a part of your life or emotions being exposed or scrutinized. The comment about not being bound to your ex alludes to the importance of emotional freedom and independence. "Dream it, be it" could be an encouragement from your subconscious to pursue your true passions and desires.
Pins and Needles in Hands Upon Waking: Physically, waking with numb hands could be a simple issue of circulation during sleep, but metaphorically, it might represent feeling 'stuck' or unable to 'grasp' something in your waking life.
In summary, this dream suggests a journey of self-discovery, longing for connection, and resolution of past emotions. It illustrates the importance of reconciling past relationships, forging stronger ties with your support network, and pursuing your genuine desires and dreams. The emotional and physical sensations upon waking highlight the impact these subconscious feelings may have on your current life.
